Economy and Jobs
Union jobs are the backbone of a strong economy. As labor has been eroded in this country, so have good paying jobs, the ability to buy a house, and overall stability. We need to reinvest in living wage, union jobs and opportunities for work in Los Angeles, especially in CD 12. Immediately, I would work with building trades unions as well as our LAUSD school board members to partner with local high schools to launch apprentice programs, so that whether our young people go to a two or four year university or enter into an apprentice program, they have the opportunity to succeed and find upward mobility.
Given the industries that have headquarters in CD12, we should be leading the City in technology opportunities, veteran care, and nursing, at a minimum.
We also need to stand up for our small businesses by creating commercial corridors along the great streets in CD12.
